This print was inspired by Kyle's large drawing installation at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Kyle wanted to make an all over linework print that was different to the install but shared a feeling. The title comes from a line his six-year-old daughter wrote in one of the comics she loves to make: “In the dark I feel calm.” This phrase reflects the intention behind the AGWA installation and captures the sense of comfort and stillness he finds in his art practice—the quiet, happy place that drawing allows Kyle to enter.
