Artist: Betty Bundamurra Art Centre: Kira Kiro, Kalumburu auspice by Waringarri Arts Title: Kira Kiro Spirits Size:  132 x 200 cm Betty is a Ngarinyin, Wunambal and Worrora woman who grew up and works from Kalumburu. Kira Kiro artists is a small out reach of Waringarri artists, set between a huge river and the ocean, surrounded by ancient rock art of the Kwini and Wandjina peoples. Betty paint these ancient creation spirits called Kwini figures or Gwion Gwion; they are said to be the oldest most complex rock art on earth due to their ceremonial regalia. Betty paints these creation beings with authority and enthusiasm, displaying their fashion, dance and portable objects in all their splendour. We hope you rock this rock art blanket as much as we do!
