Leather Worker

Peter Ellery

Henry and Wilde is a small leather goods studio in Western Australia, run by maker and photographer Peter Ellery. Everything is handcrafted by hand — one piece at a time — using traditional techniques and materials chosen for their quality and longevity.

The idea is simple. Make things that get better with age. Things that carry the marks of where you’ve been and what you’ve done. Things worth keeping.

The Craft

Every Henry and Wilde camera strap and leather accessory is made using full-grain vegetable tanned leather sourced from some of the world’s finest tanneries. It’s paired with noble hardware; brass, stainless steel, waxed thread — nothing synthetic, nothing unnecessary.

Vegetable tanning is a plant based process that produces leather with genuine character developing a rich patina that’s entirely your own. No two pieces age exactly the same way.

The work is unhurried. Designs are refined slowly, stitched carefully and finished by hand. There are no shortcuts worth taking.

Made in Western Australia

Western Australia is a long way from everywhere. That distance has a way of sharpening your focus on what matters — good materials, honest work and taking the time to do things properly.

It’s a good place to make things.
