Maree Purnell is an artist from Central Queensland that currently lives and works in Meanjin/ Brisbane. Her art practice, encompassing printmaking, papermaking and painting, investigates materials and print processes leading to expanded approaches to materiality. Of key concern to the artist, are the properties of print materials and their potential to connect the viewer with encoded meaning to conceptually explore ideas of transformation at the interface of water and land environments. Purnell is a finalist in the 2025 Burnie Print Prize.
