Third Drawer Down is incredibly excited to present our collaboration with Kaylene Whiskey. This mug features Whiskey's work 'Wonder Woman's Wonderful World', 2020. "I’ve been thinking a lot about all the strong women – pop stars like Dolly Parton and Tina Turner, superheroes like Wonder Woman and strong influences for me like my mother and aunties. I’ve been celebrating these women in my paintings and bringing them all together for a good time" - Kaylene Whiskey, 2020 About the Artist Born in Indulkana, a remote Aboriginal community in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia, Kaylene spent her childhood steeped in 1980s pop culture. Evoking familiar gestures of the everyday, her paintings use bright colours rendering pop stars in flat pictorial space, engaging with Whiskey's own life in rural Australia. Whiskey perfectly creates comic book-like worlds on her canvases that are instantly nostalgic and captivating and is part of the talented collective Iwantja Arts, the art centre in the Indulkana Community.
