Painter

Teresa Fernandez

Teresa’s interest in drawing and creating started at a very young age. She began working on her art practice more seriously in her late twenties undertaking studies, initially in graphic design then in fine art at various art schools including Central Institute of Technology and Claremont School of Art.

With a background in engineering and many years in corporate roles she has now moved to full time studio practice and has been a professional artist since 2015. This has meant embracing a more relaxed way of life.

In recent times her practice has been focused mainly on botanical, still life and tablescapes which typically feature plants from her neighbourhood, mid century vases from her collection or table settings that hark back to the past. There is a sense of nostalgia in the work and her Spanish heritage and love of coffee often feature too. No matter what type of work, there is always a strong focus on detail, light and shadow.

Teresa has also been engaged in developing and delivering school art enrichment projects (including permanent 3D installations), set up and run an art gallery, curated exhibitions and raises funds for charity through art events.

Currently Teresa has work at various galleries across Australia and her work is held in private collections around the globe
